WORK & RECEIVE PROGRAMME
Background and Inspiration
The Work & Receive program began in May 2015
The motivation has been to demonstrate Gods love and share the gospel through the work we do.
The church has been responding to numerous requests for assistance
We have responded by providing foodstuffs, medication and school fees assistance
Why is it called “work & receive?”
Beneficiaries asked to give of their time by doing work on the church premises
This assists us to identify genuine calls for assistance
Some people actually just walk away when asked to work
What work do the beneficiaries do?
The work being done includes:
Garden maintenance
Cleaning the 2 church buildings, which has included the floors, widows, walls, furniture, kneelers
Cleaning the kitchen and the hall
Sharing God’s Love
As part of our ministry, we provide lunch to the beneficiaries
The Rector uses the opportunity to share Gods word and minister
We also take the opportunity to listen to the beneficiaries’ stories and get to understand the difficulties they and others are facing
We share their burdens and counsel with them

An overview
The programme has proved to be a powerful evangelism tool that has shown the world that Avondale parish and indeed the Anglican Church is a loving and caring ministry. We pray that as our beneficiaries experience the love of God and as they are nourished physically and spiritually, their testimonies will bring many more to a love and understanding of Gods saving grace.
